Building Gemini: One Success at a Time

Founded in 2001, Gemini was launched with a disarmingly simple vision: deliver excellent wireless software, one customer at a time.

Build a reputation. Build a company.

From day one, Gemini has focused on attracting world-class minds: people who passionately believe in the potential of wireless communications. In short, professionals with new ideas and novel approaches to transform the lives of billions of people who rely on mobile devices for work, play, community, and everyday life.

Global Collaboration Levels the Playing Field

Gemini started with development offices and local expertise in the United States and Japan. From the outset, Gemini focused on the toughest market in the world: Japan. Gemini developed a solid reputation in the Japanese mobile sector, with Vodafone Japan and Sharp as early customers, and leveraged that reputation to expand out to the rest of the world. We have formed alliances and partnerships with a global line-up of mobile carriers and suppliers from SoftBank Mobile to Nextel International, Ericsson China to Telecom Italia, and software partners from ACCESS to Aplix.

Gemini is a perfect example of New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman's concept, “The World is Flat.” People — and the technology that brings ideas to fruition — are leveling the global competitive playing field by enabling horizontal collaboration. With a strong, in-country development organization in Japan, China and the United States, as well as sales channels around the world, Gemini teams share region-specific developments and innovations to make truly global products. It is this cross-pollination of ideas that helps us address today’s unique wireless infrastructure challenges and deliver tomorrow’s most innovative applications.
