Modular, I/O-Centric and Designed from the Ground Up to Provide Extreme Cost/Performance Advantages
When we started Gemini, the mobile industry, led by Japan, began facing fundamental technology challenges associated with throughput, cost and reliability. These challenges were similar to what the wired Internet faced in its early days. Evolving wireless applications from multimedia messaging to photo sharing demand that carriers' networks scale exponentially, store information reliably, and deliver information instantaneously. Only with improved performance and reliability could innovative new mobile applications, and the revenue streams they promised, become possible.
Our response was to develop the HyperScale technology, an underlying architecture designed specifically for wireless infrastructure. This highly modular architecture features an I/O-centric programming model for intensely optimized use of disks and network I/O. Designed from the ground up to deliver the scalability, cost-performance, and reliability required by mobile carriers, HyperScale technology supports flexible provisioning and management, turnkey deployment and integration, and advanced management tools.
The HyperScale technology is the foundation of Gemini's two flagship products: the HyperScale Messaging Center and the eXplo Community Platform. It has been field proven in carrier networks around the world, from Japan to the Americas to Europe, from 3G to 2.5G to CDMA to iDEN. It has been at the heart of many industry-first innovations. As just one example, Vodafone-Japan leveraged the HyperScale technology in 2004 to create the world's first 1,000 MPS Multimedia Messaging Services Center and the world's largest inter-carrier gateway.
